How do you buy a car from a private seller?

When you purchase a car from a private seller, it is very important that you receive a car title, bill of sale and a limited power of attorney.  All of those items will make it much easier for you to transfer the title into your name at the tag and title office.  If your car seller has a loan on the car, then meet your seller at his bank and have the bank prepared to deliver the title at the moment the car loan is paid off.
