Are you responsible for your spouse's medical bills?

In Florida, you are not legally responsible for your spouse's medical bills unless  you signed documents or contracts wherein you agreed to be legally responsible for payment.

Chrissy: Mike lost his wife suddenly in April, very sorry Mike. He is now asking, is he responsible for her medical bills?

Attorney Tom Olsen: All right. The bottom line is that you are not responsible for your wife's medical or hospital bills. Unless you signed on the dotted line saying that you'd be responsible to form. Mike, that's the answer. The question is, did you sign any contracts with the doctors, hospitals, and other providers saying that you'd pay? If not, then you are not obligated to repay them. Again, Mike, I'm so sorry about your wife.
