Should you have UM coverage?

We recommend that everyone have UM coverage which is also known as uninsured motorist or underinsured motorist coverage.

Paul: I've got a question here about Uninsured Motorists. Is that something we actually need? Or do we really- Can we get by? Is it a--?

Attorney Tom Olsen: Paul, in the state of Florida nothing requires you to have UM Coverage. Also known as Underinsured Motorist Coverage. Also known as Uninsured Motorist Coverage. Paul, there are a number of people out there who are driving around completely irresponsible and have no insurance or have the minimum $5,000 policy. Okay.

Paul, the likelihood of you getting hit by one of these people and injured by one of them, I would say is high enough that I'm going to recommend that everybody should have UM coverage, Uninsured, Underinsured Motorist Coverage, Paul.

So, if you're asking me. You don't- Law does not require that you have it but I'm recommending that you do have it.
