How to get free in-home care for the elderly booklet

Attorney Tom Olsen: Rob, we've got a brand new booklet on how to get in-home care for the elderly. I'm excited to be able to mail it out to people.

Attorney Robert Hidock: I'll tell you, it's exciting that we're doing it, but it's even more exciting, Tom, when you get to tell somebody that you don't necessarily have to go to a nursing home, you can get home healthcare. When I was telling that at Grace Bible Church to one of the woman there whose mom was very resistant to go to a home. As soon as I told her she could get home health care, her eyes got big and she was just so happy. She goes, "I didn't even know that was possible." This will really help enlighten people.

Attorney Tom Olsen: When we talk about somebody coming in for 30 hours a week, it'd be for light cleaning, light cooking, bathing the patient.

Attorney Robert Hidock: Making sure they have their medicine, that kind of thing. Light cooking, light cleaning, taking care of her daily activities if she can't do it obviously.

Attorney Tom Olsen: A lot of people are elderly are living at home and they have their kids coming by a good bit to help them with that, but it can be a burden on the kids, so this is a great way to keep the kids involved but get some outside help as well. It's really a great and wonderful thing.

Attorney Robert Hidock: The technical side of it, Tom, when you're in a nursing home, your income has to go to pay a facility, but with this long-term care waiver, your income stays in-house, so to speak, and you get to spend it on your own care.

Attorney Tom Olsen: All right. The booklet is, How to Get Free In-Home Care for the Elderly. We'd love to get that out to you. You can request it by calling the Olsen law group at 407-423-5561, or go to our website, olsenlawgroup.com.
