Can you have more than one executor and successor trustee?

Carrie: I have a question about a revocable trust. Attorney Tom Olsen: All right. Carrie: We have four children. Can all four children be named as executors and co-trustees? Attorney Tom Olsen: Yes. The executors who you nominate under a will under a trust, you nominate a successor trustee. You can have more than one. Carrie, you could have all four. If you're going to do all four, then you need to make a decision whether to transact business after you pass away, will it require all four signatures or could any one of them alone transact business with one signature? Will it require a majority of the four, three out of four to transact business? Yes, it is slightly more cumbersome, but if you want all your kids to be able to participate in the running of your trust after you pass away, you can name all four. You've just got to designate what it takes to transact business, whether it's one or majority, or all four. Carrie, does that answer your question? Carrie: Yes, sir, it does. Thank you. Attorney Tom Olsen: Okay. You're very welcome.
